1/125 U-73 U-boat (Revell)
My first attempt in the sea diorama arena. The model is built to look
like the U-73 as shown in the Signal Book U-boats in Action the captions
state 1941. I opened up all of the limber holes, detailed the deck gun,
2 cm flak gun corrected errors in the scope location, height and added
some additional detail in the conning tower. The kit is very plain out
of the box. I chose this kit to do my first attempt at a seascape diorama
since it was cheap and If it did not come out well I would not feel I had
lost a lot of time and money if it did not turn out well. The photos do
not represent how it looks very well, the colors are not as bright and
vibrant as the camera makes them look. The color is ultramarine blue which
is almost black and the churn is not the neon blue that the camera is portraying.
I am satisfied with the results for my first attempt and will do some more
like this. If any one knows where I can find some 1/125 scale figures
please let me know as it needs a watch officer and look out in the conning
tower.
In the works is the Lindberg Bluedevil destroyer 1/125 with much modification
which will also be in a a seascape diorama. Getting some PE to help with
the details.
