1/700 JMSDF Oyashio SSK (Hobby Boss)

The Oyashio-class SSKs are the newest submarines in the JMSDF. There are 11 boats in the class, with the most recent, the Mochishio, just commissioning earlier this spring (March 2008). The boats are armed with torpedoes and Harpoon missiles.

The kit is the 1/700 scale release from HobbyBoss. These are great little kits and include some lesser-known subs (like this one). As usual with subs, the biggest challenge is sanding and filling the seam where the two hull halves meet.
