1/228 USS Scamp SSN-588 (Revell)
This kit is the 1/228 scale Skipjack class submarine from Revell. It is pretty much out of the box with some minor modifications. Because the 3 bladed prop provided with the kit is basically modeled from an old outboard Evinrude runabout, it seriously needed replacing. I used a 1/200 scale prop purchased from Matt Stein Models which I then reduced in size to fit better. The other major change from the kit was to fill the area around the reactor opening which the manufacturer placed without any basis in accuracy. Because of the wealth of documentation provided by www.uss-scamp.com I decided to model it on the SSN-588.
