1/350 HMCS Iroquois DDH-280 (Resin Shipyard)

This is my recently completed Resin Shipyard Tribal Class destroyer HMCS Iroquois DDH-280. I was actively building it for 6 months out of the last 25 months. It was done out of the box except for the whip aerials (I used tapered brass (BMK) and the 3" gun barrel (I used Master).  I also fitted out one hangar to some extent with the hangar divider, platforms, ladders, and duck work but should have adjusted the door fully open.

I will display it for a while with the Resin Shipyard HMCS Haida also a Canadian Tribal class destroyer. It gives an interesting comparison of the 1930s designed Tribal against the late 1960s Canadian designed Tribals. Both were heavily upgraded from their as built state, HMCS Haida (which I did about 2009 and is displayed in my portfolio here) is depicted in the Korean war era and Iroquois is done in the early 2000s era.

The original class of four were commissioned in the early 1970s.  During the late 1980s and early 1990s they were modified to guided missile destroyers (VLS replacing a 5” gun and sea sparrow system forward).  Three now remain, two on the east coast and one on the west coast.
